Mom and Dad
"Children learn to smile from their parents."
A Mom's Mom and an inspiring woman!
Mom is truly an amazing woman. A lieutenant in World War II, a mother of 4 children, a wife who cooked all the meals and tended to our needs and who worked full time as a dietetic county department head after I, the youngest, started 1st grade. How can 1 person do so much and do it so well?
Today, my Mom is in Florida. She and Dad chose the warmer climate for their retirement. She and my sister, Virginia, live in a home near the lake in a peaceful little town. When you talk to my Mom, she is gracious, kind and always thinking of your needs. I honestly don't think she realizes how much she has positively impacted the lives of her children - the honesty, love and common sense she has taught us all.
My Mom is all about a quiet, steady love that she lives daily in harmony with God.

Dad - Steady, Loving, Proud of his German Roots!
My Dad once said that, looking back, he would have preferred being an engineer to an accountant. He worked as an auditor for the Federal government and worked steady, always looking towards retirement. He accomplished his goals. With the help of my Mom's second income, he provided a stable home and education for all of his 4 children and a stable retirement for he and my Mom.
It was a little hard to know what he was thinking sometimes, but he was happiest when listening to music. He loved to lay on the carpeted floor of our living room, with his feet elevated, listening to music with the fire in the fireplace going and fall asleep.
We had a beautiful 'homey" home and he built a life with Mom in Florida that was just as secure and beautiful. When he passed away in 2001, he left Mom with a quality life and peace of mind.
My favorite pictures of Dad are of him shoveling show at our home in Wisconsin all bundled up and smiling.
